Generator Gawl
Generator Gawl is a sci-fi/action/comedy series. (Gah! Why must everything include comedy?) Generator Gawl revolves around three boys from the future and their attempt to save the world. From. . . something. They just don't wanna tell you at first. Think of it as everyone having built-in mech-suits. It'll help with the sanity until you figure out what's really going on.
The main character of this series is, of course, Gawl. Gawl is a hungry, stupid, funny, violent slob. A role model for any self-respecting teen. (Hey, it worked for Sailor Moon.) Gawl has the power to "generate", or turn himself into a big scary ogre-ish thing, aptly called a "generator". Gawl is joined by Ro and Koji. Ro is the smart, suave, cool, secret agent type. (Rico Fugen Suave) He is a scientist and he's good at what he does. Koji is. . . Well, Koji is Ro. They are the same. (With really girly hair.) Together, these three make up Pinky and the Brain and the Brain. Then, we have Masami. Masami is a bitch. She's a good guy, but she's a bitch. I really don't know why. Her, cousin, Naksumi, on the other hand, is comatose. I'm pretty sure that in a Jeopardy fight between Naksumi and potted meat, the spam takes it. Together, these five comprise the super-gifted student body of Au Jou University. (Isn't that the juice you put on beef??)
Here's where I usually give the plot of a show, but this series aparently want to keep even that a secret at least for a while. Wait 'til volume two. All I'll tell you is that these guys have come back in time to stop a disaster -- to stop generators from being created and forcing humanity into subjugation. Oops, did I mention? Spoiler Warning: Spoilers behind.
One thing I really liked about this series was the closing theme. The animation was drawn by a four-year-old. . . or a chipmunk. I could do better -- Big Confidence Booster! One thing I didn't get was the "next episode" promos. Why are they way more intelligent than any of the rest of the show?? They make the next episode sound like a psych class. . . or a bible study. . . or something. . . Also, energy raiders RULE! All together, on the Danny scale, I'd give this series a 7 out of 10 genetically altered tuna fish. Pretty spiffin.
