Street Fighter Two
Street Fighter 2, like the game its based on, is an action movie. In SF2, a crime unit known as the 'Shadowloo' is trying to build a super cyborg, capable of beating anyother warrior hand to hand. They can therefore take over the world! . . .Or something. Why, whenever baddies are trying to create a super-fiend, do they always make it good at KARATE!? Does no one consider bullets or missiles? I mean, really, you might have the meanest jump kick in the east, but when it comes down to it, who's gunna win? A flying foot. . . or an AK? And this, my friends, is why we have an army. . .
As for the characters. . .
This movie contains all the characters from the games: Street Fighter Two and Street Fighter Turbo Mega Hyper Battler Champion's Edition Point Six-Niner. (What? There were a lot of them. It confuses me. . .) The movie even contains Bruce Lee for a second. . . and he loses. With all these characters, its easy to see how the writers confused Vega with Balrog. And M. Bison with Vega. Not excusable. . . but visable. New Rule. YOU CAN'T MAKE A MOVIE UNLESS YOU'VE PLAYED THE GAME!! That's final. *** With all these characters, you'd think that maybe there'd be some differences between their personalities. But, nope. Aside from the few main characters, all are the same. They are all just seen fighting. (Maybe something in the water?) As expected, this movie has cameos out the bootocks. Ah well, saw that coming.
The main character here is Ryu. After proving himself strongest fighter around, Ryu leaves civilization to wander alone. No one knows where he is. M. Bison, who is now Vega, and his gang are the Shadowloo. They are searching for Ryu to help create their robot. Ken is looking for him for love. Chun Li and Guile, on the other hand, are looking for Bison. They both work for the military, and must shut down Bison's drug and arms ring. Both lost loved ones to Vega (who is now Balrog). I'd appologize for the brevity of character descriptions, but there are just so many. . . Be happy I even mentioned them.
I liked this anime because of the spiffin fight scenes. I also think that DBZ's Mr. Satan does the voice of E. Honda. Nice! However, there is virtually no plot. And the plot that there was never even follows through. They completely ditch the whole cyborg thing and resort to simple beat-ery. Not only is the cyborg not made, but no one stops it either. They just. . . forget about it. Bad call. On the Danny scale -- 6 out of 10 flying dragon punches. Its good for a hardcore SF fan, who wants to see his favorite duke it out in video. But, any casual watcher has little to gain from this flick. About average.

*** I know about the conversion to America name change. Why'd I write this? I felt like it. Deal.
